چکیده

We consider a linear multistage detector with universal (large system) weighting for large asynchronous code-division multiple-access (CDMA). A convenient choice of the basis of the projection subspace allows a joint projection of all users’ signals and avoids truncation effects due to finite time windowing. Thanks to the joint projection the complexity per bit of the proposed detector scales linearly with the number of users. Under the assumption that the system is symbol asynchronous but chip synchronous the detector performance is analyzed analytically and shown to be identical to synchronous CDMA in the large system limit thanks to the absence of truncation effects. The proposed detector is compared to the finite-window linear minimum meansquare error detector (LMMSE). While in the synchronous case the LMMSE detector always outperforms weighted multistage detectors, we show that, with a sufficiently large delay, the proposed multistage detector can outperform the LMMSE detector in asynchronous CDMA due to constraints on the observation window.

Nonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems

Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...

Adaptive Delay Tracking in Asynchronous Multiuser CDMA Systems

Published work on multiuser code division multiple access (CDMA) receivers often assume knowledge of most system parameters. But in a mobile system, it is unreasonable to assume perfect knowledge of the propagation delays for each mobile user at all times since these delays change when mobile units move. Therefore a method for tracking propagation delays in a practical asynchronous CDMA system ...

Teng Joon Lim 8 Form 101 – Application for a Grant Part Ii 1 Recent Progress in Research 1.1 Multiuser Receiver Design

The joint detection of multiple signal streams, usually transmitted using code division multiple access (CDMA), can give much better performance than conventional matched-filter methods. Receivers designed using this idea are generically known as multiuser detectors. Our work in this area has included the development of a recursive chip-rate detector that gives linear minimum mean squared error...

Robust multiuser detection in non-Gaussian channels

In many wireless systems where multiuser detection techniques may be applied, the ambient channel noise is known through experimental measurements to be decidedly nonGaussian, due largely to impulsive phenomena. The performance of many multiuser detectors can degrade substantially in the presence of such impulsive ambient noise. In this paper, we develop robust multiuser detection techniques fo...

A New Algorithm for Multiuser DetectionBased on a Gradient Guided

| This paper introduces a new multiuser detection algorithm based on a gradient guided search that can achieve near-optimum performance while its implementation complexity is linear in the number of users. The new algorithm attempts to perform jointly optimum multiuser detection by updating one user's bit decision each iteration in the best possible way. When a decorrelating multiuser detector ...
